Education & Training

East Yorkshire Local Optical Committee Representing General Ophthalmic Services Providers in East Yorkshire

An Optometrist, as a condition of his continuing registration, must complete a specified amount of Continuing Education and Training (CET). The current requirement is 36 points, which need to have been accrued by 31st December 2006 (see the GOC website for full details of the requirement). Practitioners can keep track of their points tally on the CET Optics website (www.cetoptics.com)

The East Yorkshire Local Optical Committee, in conjunction with the North and North East Lincolnshire Local Optical Committee, has for the last few years provided some of this CET:

Every year, usually in January, the LOC organises a full day of lectures and workshops to keep local Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians up to date with current research and trends. The course is arranged with Replay Learning, who utilise internationally renowned speakers and local Ophthalmologists to provide the tutorship.

Further CET is provided locally by regular evening meetings at the Hull and East Yorkshire Eye Hospital (HEYEH) with our local Ophthalmologists.
